Find and Cancel Subscriptions
Open an account and go to its Subscriptions tab. Tally lists every recurring bill on that account that looks like a subscription, with its amount, frequency, next due date, and a How to cancel button. The totals at the top show what those subscriptions add up to per month and per year, averaged across their different cadences.
What shows up here
Section titled “What shows up here”A bill appears on the Subscriptions tab when any of these is true:
- You set its Category to Subscriptions & Streaming (see Categorize your spending). These rows are marked Tagged.
- Tally recognizes its name as a subscription service - a streaming, music, software, news, or gym provider from its built-in list. These rows are marked Detected.
A bill you’ve filed under a different category is never listed, even if its name matches a known provider - your category choice wins. Paused bills and bills whose end date has passed don’t count either.
If a subscription is missing, open the account’s Plan tab, add or edit the bill, and pick Subscriptions & Streaming as its category.
Canceling a subscription
Section titled “Canceling a subscription”Select How to cancel on a row. For a provider Tally recognizes, you’ll see the steps to cancel through that provider’s own account settings and a link to the right page. For anything Tally doesn’t recognize, it shows the two places most app subscriptions live - your phone’s App Store or Google Play subscription list - along with the general advice to look under Account, Billing, or Membership on the provider’s site.
Once you’ve canceled, come back to Tally and either delete the bill or set an end date on it so it drops out of your forecast and off this list.
What Tally won’t do
Section titled “What Tally won’t do”Tally only tells you how to cancel. It never signs in to a provider for you, never stores another service’s password, and never contacts a provider on your behalf. The cancellation itself always happens in the provider’s own app or website.
Each provider’s steps are maintained by hand. If a link or menu name has moved, use the provider’s own help pages and let us know via Feedback so we can update it.
